Moving off WooCommerce is mainly a migration problem, not a design one — and for Nokomis businesses the risk that matters is losing rankings, which careful URL mapping prevents. WooCommerce makes the first 80% easy and the last 20% expensive. Custom code inverts that, which is where Nokomis businesses with specific requirements end up. Most WooCommerce sites in Nokomis start fast and slow down as plugins and apps accumulate. Custom code has nothing to accumulate.
WooCommerce turns WordPress into a store, but it inherits the same plugin bloat, security risks, and 3-second load times, plus premium extensions that add recurring costs. We build custom e-commerce stores with Stripe checkout that do everything WooCommerce does, hand-coded for sub-1-second speed and a 100 Lighthouse score, for one flat fee.
